Exiftool
Exiftool is a useful third party tool that allows data embedded within a file to be automatically extracted on upload into the resource metadata. The fields the embedded data is placed into are configured by an administrator and can accommodate any metadata stored within the file. Some popular uses of this functionality include importing the title and extracted text from a document, or storing information about the camera or orientation of an image.
The important thing to remember about using the ExifTool is:
Exiftool extracted data will overwrite data entered in the upload form by default
So it's a good idea to consider this option when uploading.
