Fixed list metadata
Fixed list metadata is entered into fields where users select from a predefined set of options, rather than typing their own values into a free text field. In ResourceSpace, fixed list fields can appear in several formats:
- Drop-down list: select a single option from a list of options
- Checkboxes: select multiple options by ticking the boxes in a list of options
- Radio buttons: select a single option from a list of options
- Category trees: select multiple options from a hierarchical list of options
Fixed list fields help to standardise metadata, avoiding spelling mistakes or typing errors. They show uploaders how resources can be categorised by suggesting useful search terms.
All fixed list options are active by default, although administrators can choose to deactivate options.
