ResourceSpace 11.0 - enhanced accessibility and performance

We’re really excited to launch ResourceSpace 11, which includes a major interface refresh amongst a host of other improvements to the system.

Designed with modern UX principles and accessibility at its core, ResourceSpace 11 is our most usable and accessible release yet. Read on for a summary, and watch the video:

Navigation and search

One of the biggest changes is the repositioning of search. The search bar now sits in the top navigation, making it easier to access filters without sacrificing screen space for search results. It's still fully configurable, so your most-used fields can remain available as quick filters.

The Dash has also been redesigned to improve clarity. Slideshow images now appear as a separate banner above Dash tiles, rather than sitting behind them. Titles and descriptions are displayed beneath tile images, making content easier to read, while retaining all of the same configuration options as before.

Styling options

Across the system, we've updated colours, icons and styling to improve readability and meet WCAG accessibility standards. Four predefined themes are available, and we've introduced lightweight Lucide icons throughout the interface.

Collections and Featured Collections

The collection bar has been streamlined so it stays out of the way when not in use, while search results have been refined to make common actions more obvious. Frequently used options such as selecting resources or adding them to collections remain available directly from thumbnails, while secondary actions are grouped into a dedicated menu for a cleaner experience.

Featured Collections now match the new Dash design and can be displayed as either a single cover image or a tile view. The login page has also been refreshed to align with the rest of the updated interface.

Other improvements

Beyond the visual changes, ResourceSpace 11 includes a number of practical enhancements. We've expanded the System Configuration area with new settings covering search, sharing, metadata, security, resource viewing and uploading, giving administrators more control directly from the front-end.

Users of the AI metadata tagging plugin can now retrospectively populate existing metadata fields from the Jobs area, while the Action Dates plugin has been extended to support advance notifications for a wider range of automated actions, not just archiving.

Other improvements include bulk uploading of alternative files via the CSV uploader and permanently visible metadata help text, making it easier to enter and refine information without extra clicks.

More details about these developments, and everything else included in ResourceSpace 11, are on our versions page. We hope you enjoy it as much as we do - if you have any questions just let us know!
