Discover the new features in ResourceSpace 10.2

We’re pleased to introduce several exciting new functions that will improve your experience and productivity in the system. In this blog post, we’ll delve into the details of the new features and how they can benefit you. 

Calendar Date Entries

To make the system even more user-friendly, we've introduced calendars on date fields. With this new feature, you don't need to manually type in the date any more. Whether you're uploading resources or editing metadata, you can just select the date from the calendar. 

Customisable Sort Directions

ResourceSpace now allows users to choose their preferred sort direction in search results. You can tailor your search by setting your default sort direction to 'Descending' or 'Ascending' based on your requirements. This is especially useful for users searching by resource ID or accession number, and lets you view the most recent or relevant resources first.

Support for Animated GIF Previews

ResourceSpace now supports animated GIF previews! When browsing through search results, you can easily identify GIF files by their thumbnail. Clicking on the thumbnail or moving your mouse over it will activate the animated preview, so you can see the GIF in action.

More Efficient Management of Resources

In ResourceSpace 10.2, we've introduced a significant improvement to metadata field management. Previously, metadata fields could only be global or specific to a single type of resource - ‘Photo’, or ‘Video’, for example, but not both. Now, you can assign metadata fields to multiple resource types, providing greater flexibility and customisation options. It's easy to update existing metadata fields too.

Tabs on Resource Tools

To streamline the resource view page we've introduced tabs when the workflow plugin is enabled or usage history is configured. Now you can easily switch between download sizes, usage history, and workflow actions.

Un-relate Resources in a Collection

Private collections are great for relating groups of resources. In ResourceSpace 10.2, we've made it easier than ever to un-relate resources too. A new option in the 'Actions' drop-down menu allows you to remove the link between resources effortlessly.

Terms Display on External Upload Shares

External upload shares now have the option to include terms which the recipient must agree to before starting their upload. This ensures that uploads from external contacts comply with your organisation's policies and guidelines.
